Compressed Air is a very useful method of transferring energy; unfortunately, producing it is very inefficient. Up to 90% of the energy used to compress air is lost as waste heat. Air compression generally accounts for 10 to 15% of the electrical consumption on an industrial plant. Therefore, between 9% and 13% of your total electrical consumption is lost as a result of the air compression process.
